Two-Factor Authentication with 1Password
Requirements: CoreSSH Server, 1Password
Introduction
This guide walks through configuring 1Password as the 2FA app for a CoreSSH Server user account. Before starting, make sure 2FA is enabled for the user. See Getting Started with 2FA for instructions.
Add a one-time password field in 1Password
Open 1Password and select the login entry for your CoreSSH Server account. If one does not exist, create a new entry first. Click Edit to modify the entry.
Click Add More and select One-Time Password from the list of field types.
Enter the secret key
Click the QR Code icon in the one-time password field. On desktop, a scanner window will appear. Position it over the QR Code displayed in the CoreSSH Server admin console.
If you prefer manual entry, click the clipboard icon instead and paste the secret key shown in CoreSSH Server. Click Save to store the entry.
Verify the setup
Open 1Password and locate the CoreSSH Server entry. A six-digit code will be displayed in the one-time password field and refreshes every 30 seconds. Use this code when prompted during SFTP login.
To confirm the setup is working, connect to CoreSSH Server using an SFTP client. After entering your password, CoreSSH Server will prompt for a one-time passcode. Enter the code shown in 1Password.
